One Word | Part 3

Pastor Lauren shares for our continuing One Word series. This weeks word is “Prepare.” Let’s be honest, none of us were prepared for the last 3 months. Really, we can only prepare so much for anything because we don’t know the future. But there are things we can do to prepare for emergencies or new experiences. We prepare for vacations by planning and researching places to eat and explore. Or prepare for new jobs or schools. We can also prepare for emergency situations.

We don’t always know when something bad is coming, but we can prepare as much as possible to be ready for when it does. Already know trouble will come. Jesus says in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Spoiler Alert – trouble WILL come. BUT…BUT…Jesus has already overcome the world and has given us the tools we need to prepare. Lauren shares that every morning during our family Bible time, we put on our armor of God going piece by piece. Ephesians chapter 6 talks about all the different pieces of the Amour of God and how it prepares us on the daily.

In verse 13 of Ephesians 6, it says, WHEN the day of evil comes. It’s going to come. Not IF, WHEN. We face evil every day. It’s been especially thrown right in our faces recently via social media, but even without that, we see evil all around us. We have a very real enemy – Satan. He wants to harm us, trip us up, cause us to sin, turn from God, and look to ourselves for our own strength. He’s a deceiver and accuser, he manipulated and very persuasive.

THIS is was we are preparing for. We are preparing our hearts and our minds to stand firm – “so that we when the dat of evil comes, you (we) may be able to stand your (our) ground, and after you (we) have done everything, to stand. Friends, there’s no way to know what’s coming, in our physical world or spiritual. But God has given us the tools to be prepared. We have the Word of God – study it, memorize Scriptures, Psalm 119:11 says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” – use that SWORD! We have the full Armor.
