Man-Up! | Part 2

Pastor Chris jumps back into our Man Up! series tackling what it means to be a Godly Husband. When we look at the Creation story in Genesis, we get a glimpse into how God originally created man and why He created woman to be his helper. After all of the animals came to Adam and he named them, God saw that there was no suitable helper for Adam and that it was not good for man to be alone. So out of Adam, God created woman. The Scripture changes its syntax and we see that after seeing all of the animals, woman walks up and Adam starts singing! For the first time in the history of the world, there is relationship. Adam and Eve together in the perfect garden. This is what God created! So how does this relationship work? What guidelines have we been given? In Ephesians chapter 5, the roles of the wife and husband are outlined, and sometimes these are seen as “traditional” or “old” because Scripture calls for the woman or wife to submit to her husband. This can be wildly unpopular, but when looking at what the man or husband is called to do, “love their wife as Christ loves the church,” the idea of submitting seems more doable because the weight of how Christ loves the church is impossible apart from Christ. Pastor Chris breaks down what it truly means for a husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church.
