Immeasurably More | Part 1

Pastors Chris and Lauren kick off a new series titled: Immeasurably More. This series is based out of Ephesians, the letter the Apostle Paul wrote to the Church in Emphasis.

Ephesians 3:14-21, “For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

God deeply desires for us to have a life of “Immeasurably More.” But the question for us is, what will we do in order to step into that life? And this type of more life that God wants for us is beyond anything we can ever dream. Take your best life and picture it right now in your mind. God wants even more than that for you. Stepping into this life is not an easy one. Over the next few weeks we will explore what this looks like.

This first week, we are going to talk about how we are called not to just sit and wait around for this life to appear. We are specifically called to step and take action with faith and trust in God. In the same way, all of us have different ways to do this. You probably know exactly what you are to do right now. The first step is sometimes to hardest and scariest to take.

Jachabed when told to kill her newly born baby boy by the direction under fear from Pharaoh stepped into faith in God. She couldn’t do what the newly appointed king told her. So she instead placed the baby in a basket in the river. Then Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby and asked a near by girl to find someone to nurse the baby. She didn’t know she had just asked the baby’s sister, who in turn went and found Jachabed to feed the baby.

Jachabed was able to raise the baby until he was old enough to go and live with Pharaoh’s daughter in the palace. She stepped out in faith knowing that God was going to protect her baby boy. She was blessed with being able to raise the child. But the story does not end there. Here is where the immeasurably more comes into play. This boy would grow up and ultimately lead the obsessed Israelite people to freedom from slavery.

If you have read any of the Old Testament, you know who Moses is. This baby boy was Moses. Who lead the Hebrew people out of Egypt to the Promised Land. God wants to take your life into something we never dreamed. The first step is acting in obedience with God. Jachabed had no idea her son would ultimately free them, she was just trusting the Lord to save her son.
