Summer of Psalms | Part 2

Continuing in our Summer of Psalms series, Pastor Chris dives into the second book within Psalms. King David writes both a personal as well as congregational Psalm in chapter 62. The first half of the chapter is personal between him and God but then out of that he proclaims truth for all at the temple who are worshipping. King David is encouraging all to trust in God and in David’s personal section in the Psalm he is remembering the truth that God is his rock, fortress, salvation and that because of that, he, King David, will never be shaken. Then David talks to his enemies and in short shouts at them, tell them to leave him alone, “You are just trying to knock me down for no goo reason. Stop it!” And then David turns back to God and says, even though my enemies attack me, I hold on to you God, because you are my rock, my salvation, my resting place. At this point David turns to the entire congregation at the Temple and shares with them the truth that David has personally learned. Psalm 62:8, “Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” This is the only way to live your life! Trust + Pray + Rest = 1 Hope
