Pastor Chris starts a new 3 week series on the topic of Prayer. What is prayer? What is it all about? How do you pray? Where do you start? Do you have to earn prayer? Is God really listening? The Disciples that followed Jesus had all of the same questions and they literally walk with God. So Jesus as recorded in Matthew chapter 6 teaches the Disciples how to pray.
“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.”
This is where we get the tradition in the church known as, “The Lord’s Prayer.” But what does it mean? Some of us have grown up in the church just saying this at different times. But do we know what it mean? Can this give us a blueprint for when we pray to God? Does the Bible day anything else about prayer? Is this the only way to pray?
So lets jump in on this journey on the topic of prayer for the next three weeks and learn all together. Try new things when it comes to prayer. Walk around, pray scripture, journal, talk honestly with God because He is always listening. Honest prayer (lament, anger, fear, despair) is a sign you care and believe in God’s ability to do something about it.
