Gratitude

Pastor Chris shares about Gratitude the week of Thanksgiving. What is gratitude? Gratitude is the most healthy emotion. Scientists have found that there is nothing better for your health. If you adopt a life of gratitude, as a thank you gift to God, it will increase your satisfaction, happiness, and make your life have more meaning and significance. So how do we live our life as a thank you gift to God? God’s gift to you is your life, your gift to God is what you will do with that life. Why should I live my life, as a thank you note to God? Well there are 3 reasons, that Pastor Chris shares, to give thanks to God BECAUSE of who God is and 6 ways BY which you can give thanks to God.

We can live a life of gratitude first is because of who God is. God is loving, holy, just, good, kind, gracious, & great. This is His nature. Psalms is loaded with all different verses about the nature and character of God and we respond to who God is by singing and thanking Him in prayer.

We also show gratitude Because of what God has done. Praise God for who He is, thank God for what He has done. What has God done for you? Millions of things: He created us, He saved us, He answers our prayers, He give our lives direction, He came to earth and died for you and me!

So how then can you and I show thanks for what God has done in our life?

First by telling others about the Good news. Isaiah 12:4 says, “Thank the Lord and praise Him name! Tell the world about His wonderful love!” A second way is by bringing and offering back to God. Psalm 50:14 says, “Give an offering to show your thanks to God. Give Him what you promised.” Deuteronomy 16:10 tell us, “Celebrate the Harvest Festival, to honor the Lord your God, by bringing Him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing that He has given you.”

We show gratitude because of who God is and because of what He has done but also because of what God has promised! There are over 7,000 promised in the Bible for all believers. The best way to show gratitude for the promises that God has given us is by serving Him with the abilities that God has given you, and by living each day as a thank you gift back to God.
